La Amistade Estate Light:
Roberto’s farm is located in the middle of the Costa Rican rainforest and he has done a wonderful job of growing Organic, Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee that is shade grown and incredibly eco-friendly. La Amistad is an International Park that spans Costa Rica and Panama – one of the few International Parks in the entire world. Roberto’s farm has been located in this region of Costa Rica since his grandfather purchased the land and well before the Park was created. Roberto has sat on the board of Costa Rican Organic Certification and has been very influential within his country on eco-friendly farming practices.
Roberto and his family donated a large portion of their land to the Costa Rican Government to create the La Amistad International Park, hence the reason why this coffee, your coffee, is literally grown not only in the rainforest, but also in the center of an International Park.
Clean, crisp, bright, and very flavorful. This Costa Rican coffee goes down smooth and will leave you wanting more.
Directly translated La Amistad means “Friendship” in Spanish and the La Amistad Estate is a coffee farm located inside the La Amistad International Park that is located half in Costa Rica and half in Panama. Due to the park status, this region is sparsely populated and Roberto relies on Native Indians living in the mountains to come down and help him pick during the harvest season. Not only are these pickers paid more then the going rate, but Roberto has built a large community room to house them during the short picking season and has built over 26 houses for families to live free of charge on his farm year round for the families that would like to stay after the harvest.
La Amistad is 100 percent powered by hydro-electricity all generated on the farm. La Amistad is Organic Certified, Rainforest Alliance Certified, Shade Grown, and the coffee itself has won multiple awards in Costa Rica. I hope you enjoy this true gem of a coffee!
