Kara is from Littleton, CO. She and Jackie share roasting responsibilities and she helps to manage and oversee the staff at Jackie’s Java. She joined the team 6 years ago and has seen the company change a lot in that time.
She has enjoyed watching the company grow and expand. In her time here, they’ve been able to expand the products they provide adding Single Serve K-Cups and cold brewing coffee in beer kegs, and even working with local breweries to create coffee-beer collaboration brews. She’s also created some of our best-selling shirt designs, including “I like it first thing in the morning.” Kara has seen Jackie’s Java through the years taking on more accounts and selling a lot more coffee and said the experience has been inspiring.
Kara started working at Jackie’s Java when she was in college at CSU. Kara was one of Jackie’s first employees ever. She starting out helping Jackie to bag coffee in the warehouse a few hours a week after class. When she graduated with her degree in hospitality management, Kara left Jackie’s Java for a short time to take a position as a manager of a cafe. After a few months she realized she missed working at Jackie’s Java because of the small business feel it has. She came back and has been full-time here ever since!
Along with the small-business feel, Kara likes the flexibility and physicality of her job. She said she likes that she’s always moving and she feels like she is always learning something new.
In the little free time she has, Kara likes to work on the house she just bought, hang out with her husband and her dog, and go on trail runs. She has done three Tough Mudders in the last three years and plans to do another this year and one in Scotland in 2017.
